The Allian Empire was a nation that existed from 300 B.C. to 1500 A.D. It was a large empire, considered the greatest ever on Venturia, and consisted of nine separate "protectorates", which were like states today. These were mainly located in western Asper, but the empire also had holdings on the Zwakazi continent in New Sketherlands. The empire was centered in the protectorate of Northern Allia, however, and most governing was done from the capital city of Procantinac. The Allian Empire was one of the first republican governments, though the empire operated with major power acceded to the Protectinate, who led the nation's military, Presidium, and Great Courts. Additionally, the Protectinate appointed regional governors, and while he did not have absolute power in the Presidium and courts, and served at the pleasure of the people, his powers were by far the greatest of any official in the government. The economic, military, and cultural might of the Allian Empire contributed greatly to their world dominance, and their influence across the world is still felt today in the widespread use of Allian, the republican government, and shared culture in successor nations. The empire covered nearly 8.7 million square kilometers of land.

The predecessor state to the Allian Empire was Old Allia, which itself was a successor state of Classical Allia, which existed from 1300 B.C. to 600 B.C. Old Allia began in 600 B.C., and was an era of stagnancy for the country. With the rise of William Proncanshion I in the city politics of the capital in early 300 B.C., Old Allia ended, as the First Allian Conquest of 390 B.C. is recognized as the beginning of the empire by some, though it was not officially established until 300 B.C. During the first period of the empire from 300 B.C. to 0 A.D., Allia embarked on a period of rapid expansion, and by the end of the first period had conquered all of western Asper as well as present-day Bymaria and Carkhia. Establishing a government of regional governors led by the capital government in Procantinac, the empire prospered governmentally and economically, establishing a strong hold on its protectorates. After 0 A.D., expansion slowed down, however scientific and economic innovation occurred, with territories in the Skethish Protectorate especially being the source of many new innovations. After 1000, however, decline began, starting with the Religious Unrest of 987, wherein followers of Skethianity, Christianity, and Hatvism clashed in the empire. This unrest was brutally put down by Protectinate Paul Drein, resulting in the establishment of Christianity as an official religion.

The 1000's also saw instability on the Zwakazi continent, with the Trigadian Empire encouraging hostility against Allian merchants on the continent, though protectorates there were able to hold officially. The Age of Refutation in the 13th and 14th centuries opened the door to resistance against the policy of the Empire in theological and political issues, with many liberals and scientists opening the door to imperial opposition for the first time. In 1397 the Belief Clash began, resulting from longstanding economic conflicts and societal conflicts brought on in part by the Age of Refutation. Allia was victorious in the clash, however the longevity of the conflict and rising frequency of division in the empire led to instability, mainly in Zwakazi and by opposition political groups in the capital. By the late 1400's, protectinates were routinely ousted from office by the people in the capital, and after the Zwak Massacres of 1489, major instability began in Procantinac. After recalling soldiers from outlying protectorates to deal with the issue, 1495 ended the riots in the capital. But, 1499 brought resumed riots, with the July Revolts finally crippling the empire beyond repair. On July 29th of the next year, protectinate Justinian Creane officially dissolved the empire.

Despite the Allian Empire's major instability in later years, the earlier period brought lasting governmental, economic, and cultural change across the world. Today, these trends are still seen, with Allian being the second-most spoken language in the world today. Additionally, the religious foundations of Skethianity, Christianity, and Hatvism were all established or greatly advanced during the time of the empire, and philosophy was also both advanced and standardized. Finally, exploration and primary globalization was established, with many unorganized areas being organized, and irreversibly so. Most of these organized areas are today still together, as the Allian empire set the foundations for political common ground resulting in the large and diverse countries of modern-day.

History

The Allian Empire started in Old Allia, as a single city, Procantinac. In 410 B.C., the first leader of the Allians, Protectinate William Proncanshion I was born in Procantinac. As the son of a local government leader, William learned early on the ways of government, and politics, and soon rose to power as the Protectinate of Procantinac. But, unlike other leaders of the city before him, William believed in the might of the Allian people. So, in 390 B.C., at the age of only 19, William rallied the people to his side, and began the First Allian Conquest. He started west, with an army of over 300,000, and began the conquest. First, the Allian army attacked the Tribes of Xevenxia, their neighbors directly to the west. They conquered the Xevenxians, and William claimed the land for his new country, named Allia. He became ruler of the Xevenxians, and also impressed a large number into his army. The army continued west, claiming everything they saw for Allia, and reached the coast in May of 385 B.C. There they fought and were victorious over the native tribes there, and William, stationing many troops at the conquered cities, returned to Procantinac a hero. From 378 B.C. to 365 B.C. he ruled, and finally died there in 365 B.C., at the age of 45. Soon Allia voted for a new Protectinate, William Proncanshion II, the older William's son. William did not have the ambition of his father, and he ruled peacefully for 30 years, until 335 B.C. There were two other short ruling Protectinates after him, and then, in 315 B.C., Brennaghog the Bloody was made Protectinate. As his name makes it sound, Brennaghog was ruthless, and soon set out to conquer, just like Proncanshion I, in the Second Allian Conquest. Brennaghog and his army set out north in 310 B.C., and soon came upon people from the Triland Country. They were descended from the Bludlet Empire, an empire of its own earlier, and were more advanced than others in the art of war. However, in 301 B.C., they were conquered just like the rest. A year later, the Allian Empire was officially founded, after Brennaghog supposedly declared, "The Allian Empire is upon Venturia!"

After the conquest of the Trilands, Brennaghog decided to go west. In 290 B.C., he arrived upon a series of villages, inhabited by people called Southians. They were not interested in putting up a fight, and decided to peacefully become a part of the empire in 287 B.C. While in the villages, Brennaghog the Bloody got into an argument with some of his officers. It turned into a fight, and the officers ended up being killed by Brennaghog. After the incident, the army rose up against him in a revolt, and he was hung on the night of November 10th, 284 B.C.
