Bymaria (sometimes referred to as Vausatan) is a nation in northwestern Asper, bordering Carkhia, the United Villages of Southia, and New Dawn. Currently home to the fourth largest population in the world of 310.8 million, and currently has the third largest GDP in the world, currently at $4.67 trillion. Land area of the nation is currently approximated at 993,635km². The nation is considered a constitutional monarchy, however its King, currently Gregor Vausatan IV, has extended powers compared to other constitutional monarchies. The Royal Auxilium is the nation's legislature, and though it makes laws, it gets much of its power from the King, with the Royal Facilitator having more power than the official leader of the body, the Auxiliary Minister.

The nation was a part of the Allian Empire for much of its existence, until 1500, when the empire was dissolved. Like many other states after the dissolution, disorganization was prevalent for many years, until 1511 when King Ronan Gorger united the nation. With Daklas as the capital, the Gorger Dynasty ruled for nearly 200 years, waging war with Carkhia and the United Villages of Southia numerous times, establishing one of the largest maritime trading industries in the world, and expanding their borders. In 1701 the dynasty faced a rebellion from the west, and fought the Bymarian Civil War, resulting in the Bymarian Charter of Government in 1731. After the charter, Bymaria did not rapidly industrialize like many other states, and fell behind economically. In the late 1800's, however, Bymaria entered one of the most rapid periods of industrialization ever, and by the end of the century had one of the largest industrialized economies in the world. Needing resources, Bymaria fought in the Great Venturian War, and with that victory helped to further propel its economy. In 1925, Bymaria entered into the Greater Venturian War, however this time lost, losing much of its territory, and recession followed throughout the rest of the 20th century.

Today the economy of Bymaria has recovered from these recessions, and is one of the most developed nations in the world. Internationally Bymaria holds a very controversial status, being a non-signatory member of the Venturian Union Nuclear Regulatory Pact and the Venturian Climate Change Agreement as well as being the largest greenhouse gas emitter in the world, with numerous health issues as well as past criticism for censorship. Bymaria is a member of the Venturian Union, a regular participator in the Sidus Dei Ludos, a member of the General Economic Cooperation Organization, and has one of the larger militaries in the world, currently ranked 6th. It has a large influence on the world economically, being voted one of the head nations of the Venturian Union Bureau of Economics in 2021, and is the epicenter of trade between the Asper and Zwakazi continents.

History

Allian Empire

Bymaria for centuries was a tribal land, and was ruled by many hereditary chiefs, occasionally united during the Vausatan Expanse and under the Bludlet Empire. Bymaria was conquered by Fallow Richards I in 218 B.C., and became part of the Allian Empire as part of the protectorate of Fallia. Fallia became one of the more advanced and organized of the protectorates, with Vausatania being the capital of the entire protectorate, and Daklas being the third largest city in the empire. Fallia was also the main provider of soldiers for the empire, and because of this familiarity with foreign lands and economic success became the link between contiguous Empire and New Sketherlands.

Participating in the Belief Clash of the 14th century, Fallia and more specifically Bymaria played the role of policing the protectorates of the Villages of Southia and Carkhia, with the Allian government stationing Bymarian troops in those areas to prevent the spread of Hatvism to those "vulnerable" areas. As a result, tension formed inside the protectorates. In the late 1400's, a number of bad recessions combined with higher taxes and tension between the protectorates resulted in the dissolution of the Allian Empire in 1500.

Transitional Period

After the dissolution of the empire, Bymaria entered a transitional period of disorganization, with regional leaders taking over. Prince Ronan Gorger of Daklas reigned over the city after the dissolution, and soon began to gain more power. In 1503 he poisoned the Prince of Vausatan, Ashton the Drunk, just before the marriage of their two children, and drowned Ashton's son, becoming prince himself. In 1507 he made an alliance with groups in the Jaronician Valley, in 1509 Gorger impaled the prince of the coastal villages, and finally in 1510 marched on Chtillmar and took it over. Crowned the first King of Bymaria in 1511, Gorger established regional princes and a new government.

Gorger Dynasty

Gorger expanded the nation in the coming years, expanding to the west and to the east, coming in conflict with numerous tribes and the new nation of Carkhia, which had formed in 1503 under the leadership of King Jaron Carkhan I. In 1520 the two leaders met on the border for the first time with the Sarlac Meeting, with tensions between the two rising to the point where Gorger brought out his spear, at which Jaron hastily retreated across the border. This prompted the War of Spearhead, in which Bymaria successfully pushed to the east, and surrounded Carkhia, with the Treaty of Bounduschack giving Bymaria more land to the north of Daklas.

In 1527, tensions flared in the newly gained northern region, and the Cancas Rebellion, led by Carkhian politician Elizabeth Cancas, led to another short war between the two nations, which Carkhia won, regaining the northern lands. By this point, Gorger's popularity had begun to decline, and his young nephew Telunsch Gorger I had his uncle assassinated in 1531. Telunsch Gorger then became King, enacting much legislation on crimes and reducing the army. This did not give him much popularity, however, and in 1556 he was murdered by his nephew, Tyler Gorger, who then became King. Tyler was a very benevolent King, enacting popular economic policies that reinstated trade with the new Protectorates of Allia and even Carkhia, along with the Empire of New Dawn and Trigadia.

Tyler's reign lasted for nearly 47 years, and he died from natural causes in 1602. His son, Telunsch Gorger II, was less adept at handling the nation, and declared war on the United Lands of Southia in 1608 in the War of Greenlands. After winning that war and gaining territory to the south, Telunsch declared war on the newly formed New Dawn in 1611. Despite the nation still being unorganized, the Bymarian army was crushed by the Dawnlinians in the United Chaos War, and lost much of the territory it gained in the War of Greenlands along with more. Telunsch went to war again in 1620, this time against Carkhia in the Telunsch Wars, and again lost, losing Daklas. This defeat was too much for the Bymarian citizens, and in 1629 he was overthrown by the people and replaced with Geogre Gorger.
