Docneighland is an island nation located in southern Asper, with its land spread across two main islands, People's Island and the Isle of Neighland. Its total area of 1.865 million square kilometers makes it the largest island nation on Venturia, nearly 400,000 square kilometers larger than Rapathion. Allia closely borders the country by sea to the north. Docneighland is the only absolute democracy in the world, with all government actions voted on by the country's population. Its capital is McStuffinsville, located in the state of Iffibeder. Other major cities include Aurorasas, Port Hallie, and Dejeinaville. The nation is known for having the coldest climate on Venturia, though it is still habitable due to the Davenport Effect.
Docneighland was first inhabited by emigrants of what is now Allia, traveling for trade and eventually settling in the area. The nation was scarcely populated, and with the rise of the Allian Empire it was one of the few territories to submit to its rule immediately. After time as a protectorate of the empire, the empire's dissolution in 1500 had little effect on Docneighland, with its small population. In 1506, the Constitution of Docneighland was signed by the nation's inhabitants, promising a truly democratic form of government. After small population growth due to the new government and newfound stability, the Docneighland Sovereignty Bill was passed by the people in 1521, recognizing the need for officials to carry out the will of the people. The 1600's and 1700's were much like the previous centuries, with the nation remaining stable politically but small in population.
With industrialization on the forefront in the 1800's, Docneighland became much more habitable, with heating technologies bringing new settlers and higher birth rates. The nation quickly industrialized, the process being spurred on by population growth, political stability, and geographic positioning, with plentiful natural resources and prime trading locations available to industrialists. This industrialization brought Docneighland into the Great Venturian War in 1900, hoping to protect itself and surrounding lands from Megatridimensional invasion. The war was lost, and in the Greater Venturian War 20 years later, Docneighland was ground zero for the first atomic weapons use in human history. The war was eventually won by the country and its allies, however, and Docneighland continued to prosper economically and politically throughout the 20th century into modern day.
Today, Docneighland is one of the most developed countries on Venturia, with a GDP of $1.59 trillion and a large population. Its human development is high, and poverty is low, with its politics still being considered the most stable and democratic in the world, though critics have noted numerous inefficiencies with the system. The Speaker of the People heads the government, with the Bureau of Democratic Process heading the legislative process, though the people vote on every issue, and the Bureau's members only propose changes or execute the will of the people. A member of the Asperian Trade and Defense Organization, Allian World Language Union, Venturian Union, General Economic Cooperation Organization, and Sidus Dei Ludos, Docneighland is generally considered one of the more isolationist of the major world powers, however through ATADO sides with the Quentinian Superpower Bloc on most occasions. Its military, specifically its navy, is one of the largest in the world, and also one of the oldest.
