New Dawn, also known sometimes as Dawnland, is a nation located in northeast Asper, bordering Bymaria to the west, Lindsaya to the east, the United Villages of Southia to the south, and Ravensonia to the north. Additionally, the nation is on the coast of the Calidihav Ocean and Calidihav Gulf to the northwest. Though the country currently has the 19th-largest population in the world at 194.56 million people, New Dawn also has the world's fifth-largest nominal GDP at $2.13 trillion. The area of the country is 952,324km2, and population density is moderate across the country. Considered a part of the Northern States Group demographically, economically, and geographically, New Dawn is currently considered a republic politically, with the President of New Dawn leading the government, alongside the bicameral Dawnland National Committee.
The nation now known as New Dawn originally rose to world prominence as the Empire of the New Dawn, encompassing modern day New Dawn and Lindsaya, along with parts of the United Villages of Southia and Ravensonia. The Empire originally began as a small coalition of cities in Lindsaya and New Dawn, around 1195. After growing a bit, the Empire soon rose to prominence in the 1300's, participating in the Belief Clash and managing to stay out of the control of the Allian Empire, being one of the empire's main competitors. However, the Empire fell in 1598, and the cities involved in the empire became independent. In 1615 however, Dawn Ashley was able to unite the cities through political and economic interests, agreeing upon the New Order of Structure in 1619. This made Ashley the new President of the country, then called Consul. Throughout the 1600's and 1700's the country thrived, being a center of culture and commerce along with Telembria and Allia, often acting as an intermediary between the two. Multiple wars with Lindsaya were fought during these two centuries, the two nations being bitter rivals. During the 1800's and 1900's the country modernized, and mended relations with Lindsaya, soon becoming major economic and political allies. In the Great Venturian Wars, New Dawn fought on the side of the Anti-Expansionist Alliance and later the Southern Coastal Alliance, being victorious in the Greater Venturian War. The country continued to modernize and thrive throughout the 20th century, entering the 21st century as a major economic, cultural, and political power.
New Dawn today is mainly a neutral party when it comes to politics, though it has a strong partnership and alliance with Lindsaya, under the Alliance of New Dawn and Lindsaya. Besides having one of the largest nominal GDPs in the world, New Dawn has one of the highest human development and standard of living rates, lowest poverty rates, highest enrollment rates, and lowest crime rates in the world. The Venturian Union rated the country fifth in the world in terms of democracy and stability of government, rating the nation a true democracy. The nation is a member of the Venturian Union, and plays a major role in its proceedings. It is largely viewed as a mediator in world politics, more so than any other country, however there is major controversy over the nation's nuclear program, which began in 1989 in defiance of the Venturian Union Nuclear Regulatory Pact. Today New Dawn is a signatory of the pact, however still maintains that nuclear weapons are necessary for the defense of the region. The country is a signatory of the Venturian Climate Change Agreement, and is currently one of the most climate-friendly countries in the world. New Dawn is a regular participant in the Sidus Dei Ludos and is a member of the General Economic Cooperation Organization. The nation's military is currently ranked 10th in the world, with most power coming from the army and air force.
