The Coastal Islands of Atillaraon, also simply referred to as Atillaraon, is an island nation located in the northeastern Brightwater Gulf in Asper, which is currently the youngest and most recent member of the Venturian Union. The small nation is composed of three main islands, along with seven smaller islands of varying size. The country's total land area is measured at 52,340 square kilometers, making it the smallest country in the Venturian Union. Its capital city, Maugaulkmar, is located on the largest of the Atillaraoan islands, and its government structure is a unitary constitutional monarchy. Despite the state being unitary, the national government does recognize four counties, which are major urban areas recognized for local organization.
The first recorded inhabitants of the islands of Atillaraon appeared in 2000 B.C, being people of the Asperian tribal ethnicity moving from what is now the Desert Area in the United States of Quentin. The inhabitants lived with no organized government until 800 A.D, when explorers from the Allian Empire came across the islands. Uniting in self-defense, the inhabitants successfully drove out Allian explorers, who avoided the island. The island was again in solitude until the 1600's, when Asperian wars occurring in the region interfered in Atillaraoan life. After being discovered by the wider Asperian world, the islands came under the rule of numerous nations in the 1700's, including New Dawn, Lindsaya, then finally the United Villages of Southia in the 1800's. With the assistance of the neighboring United States of Quentin in the 1860's, the nation was sold to Bymaria in exchange for greater autonomy.
This greater autonomy led to a rise in Atillaraoan nationalism, and rebellions such as the Atillaraoan Fur Revolt and the Atillaraoan Rebellion of 1904 occurred. However, it wasn't until the end of the Greater Venturian War in 1935 that Atillaraoan nationalists were able to gain the upper hand, taking advantage of the weak Bymarian government at the time. Again with the help of the United States of Quentin, the Atillaraoan islands gained independence in 1946. The country did not transition to a national government immediately, instead being ruled locally and with the help of commercial interests, however in 1982 the Ark of Atillaraon was enacted by a national convention, establishing the supremacy of the new King and giving him authority to create a new, republican government.
During the early 2000's, Atillaraon was still not granted membership to the Venturian Union, due to its lack of universal recognition and its small size. However, after campaigning and achieving the support of the Azurian Isles, the Coastal Islands became a member in 2020, achieving near-universal recognition for the first time. Internationally, the island nation continues to campaign with the Azurian Isles and others to grant membership to micronations including Redniess, Quoaria, Midtrinnis, and Rullabellon. The national government of Atillaraon is officially a constitutional monarchy, with the Queen being the head of the executive and the Parliament of Atillaraon acting as the nation's legislature. The official languages of the island are Allian and Atillaraoan, however due to massive ethnic diversity in the nation, there are numerous languages spoken widely. The country has a population of 5.5 million people, and it is considered a low-level developed country, with a small economy but high standards of living.
Besides becoming a member to the Venturian Union in 2020, the Coastal Islands were also accepted into the Sidus Dei Ludos and the General Economic Cooperation Organization. Since the organization's founding, the nation has been a member of the Alliance of Island Nations, created by the Azurian Isles and Atillaraon to promote the welfare of smaller nations on a global scale.
