Mechanicsburg is the capital city of The United States of Quentin, as well as being the capital of the state of The Grassland Area, in the eastern part of the country. The city is the 3rd most populous city in the USQ, distributed over an area of 1,254km2. It is one of the major cities of the USQ and Venturia, notably for its large role in politics, but also for trade, industry, and population. The current population is 11.72 million people as of 2018, with a near 12.1 million including surrounding suburbs.

Mechanicsburg borders the long and narrow Logan River, and is home to the national government of the USQ as well as the state government of the GA, drawing much attention from the world. The largest building in the city is The Mechanicsburg Business Tower, at 775 meters tall, the second largest in the nation, as well as the 5th largest in the world. Other landmarks include the governmental buildings of the USQ, the Quad Crosses, Upper Minenton Cultural Park, and of course hundreds of skyscrapers. The name Mechanicsburg came from the all the trains and wagons and "mechanics" that they used to get there, and burg is a word for city. Mechanicsburg was founded in 1801 by a group of settlers that had separated from The Quentinian Party, and became the new nation's capital in 1834.

History

Founding

The city was founded in 1801 by a group of settlers that broke off from the Quentinian Party. The settlers had come from Telembria, and were part of a new nation, called the Republic of Megatridimensional Order, that was being created. By 1805, the city was thriving, due mostly in part to close proximity to The Logan River and the hardworking mentality of the citizens there. By that time, the area Mechanicsburg was in had become organized, and grouped together as The Territories of Quentin. They were under rule from the MTO, however they did have their own government, The Territorial Assembly, and Mechanicsburg was chosen as the capital for the Territories in 1805.

Revolution and Independence

In the following years, unrest started to develop in the Territories, and Mechanicsburg played host to many of the riots and protests in the years from 1810 to 1823. In 1818, Mechanicsburg was the place where the Quentinian Declaration of Independence was signed, and released in 1823. During the Quentinian War for Independence, Mechanicsburg played a crucial role as the headquarters of the military and government operations, with many orders being issued from there to generals in other places, even though no battles were fought there. After the war was ended, and the new USQ had won, they needed a new government. So, Mechanicsburg once again welcomed delegates from around the country to discuss the creation of the new government. In 1834, they finished talks, and The Constitution of the United States of Quentin was signed there.

Later 1800s

After the new document was written, in the 1800s Mechanicsburg was the hub of the new government, housing the Congress of the USQ, The Supreme Council of the USQ, and 777 Cupboard Place, along with many monuments. All federal bills and laws were passed here, and it was, and still is the political hub of the country. One other big event in the late 1800s was that Al Chepdore created The Cheppy Candy Company in the city in 1889.

1900s

The Great Venturian War started at the turn of the century, and although Mechanicsburg was not the main military headquarters, (Which was Fort McCarthy) it still served as the main diplomatic communications city, and where all the leaders issued orders. The city resisted many attacks from the MTO military during the war, and when the war ended in 1912 it still remained unoccupied. Post-war, the USQ was experiencing a time of great pride in the nation, and Mechanicsburg was in the thick of it. The United States of Quentin Pledge of Allegiance was written there in 1926.

In 1930 the nation plunged into another war, this one called The Greater Venturian War. It featured every country from around the world, so you can imagine Mechanicsburg had a large part to play diplomatically. This time the USQ won the war, and the whole country celebrated. After the war, the country entered a period called The United States of Quentin Age of Culture from 1950 to 1980. During that time, the USQ really developed culturally, with Mechanicsburg at the forefront once again, with many national brands being created, such as Shah Enterprises and, later, Abhpal's Food. During this time, many record companies and song publishers were also headquartered in Mechanicsburg, including L&B Studios. Television and media were coming into the public forefront as well, with television bringing events such as The Sidus Dei Ludos and national sports, Roofball and Vehementiaball, as well as the Quentinian Broadcasting Corporation among others setting up in Mechanicsburg. Architecture in the city also grew exponentially during this time, with dozens of skyscrapers being built in the city, including The Mechanicsburg Business Tower, the tallest building on Venturia, and The Shah Tower.

Economic Crisis

In the year 1953, Mechanicsburg was at the height of an industrial boom in the country. After the Greater Venturian War, with no real global conflict and a booming commercial business, the city began to industrialize, building factories and warehouses to supply them. Soon there were thousands of factories across the city, most of them lumber or textile producers, and the city's wealth raise exponentially. Citizens had jobs, money was being sent out through exports and back in through imports. Many people relied on these factories for jobs and products, especially businesses.

However, at the beginning of 1954 industry in the city plummeted, as a result of a loss of trees and resources, resulting in the bankruptcy of the largest company in the lumber business at the time, Carson Reiders Lumber Co.. In turn, many people lost their jobs, and commercial businesses that lost products from these factories went out of business as well, resulting in a loss of demand for such products, finally resulting in the bankruptcy of more industrial corporations, and going around and around in a vicious economic cycle. The disaster, called the 1954 Mechanicsburg Economic Crisis, affected everyone in the city, as well as many northern cities such as West Snowy and Maximum City.

At a crucial point in July of that year, the government stepped in, deciding to bail out minor corporations in the city, mainly DuBuis Construction and Manufacturing Corporation and Coast-Side Logan Industries, with a promise that the industries wouldn't overspread again until everyone had recovered. The government also paid businesses to move back in, giving the industries customers and a demand for employees again.

Geography

The city is like many other places in The Grassland Area of The United States of Quentin, pretty flat leveled, some hills with an abundance of forests and waterways. The city's main geographical feature is The Logan River, which runs through the entirety of the city, and is a large attraction as well as an economic asset. The river barely branches out at all into smaller streams, at least in the city, and runs right by the downtown area as well as the outer downtown area.

Besides the river, the city has a large abundance of trees and woods, however is not so heavily forested as cities like Lindin and Jameisville. Near the river is a large flat area, more level than the upper parts of the city, away from the river, which is hilly and a little steep. This difference in elevation shows in the famous photograph called the Station of Power in Mechanicsburg, showing the Lodder-Central Nuclear Power Plant overlooking the downtown area below.

The climate of the city is also typical of the Grassland Area, with temperate summers, cold winters with lots of precipitation, and fair falls and springs. As it is next to a river, the wind can be more heightened than places like Minersville, however not at all severe, especially when comparing it to Port Clinton or Port Jaron. As mentioned above, the city receives general precipitation, especially in the winter, however early summer especially is drier than other times.

Culture

Sports

Mechanicsburg has many sports teams, both professional and not. The Mechanicsburg Businessmen are the professional team in the Quentinian Roofball Organization, and the main college roofball team in QUACA are the Mechanicsburg University Pelicans. In the United Vehementiaball League, the Mechanicsburg team is the Mechanicsburg Fighting Geckos. The QUACA college vehementiaball teams are Mechanicsburg University Pelicans. In Mechanicsburg, there are two professional stadiums, the Roofball one called Shah Stadium, and the Vehementiaball one called Wagner Memorial Arena. The college teams listed here are only ones from Mechanicsburg University, as they are the most competitive team in the city each year, though teams from other colleges in the city also compete.

The Sidus Dei Ludos, especially the winter ones, are always a big sporting event as well, and the city has hosted them a total of 6 times, 5 in winter (1917, 1945, 1959, 1985, and 2017) and once in summer, in the 1962 Sidus Dei Ludos. Even when the city isn't hosting the Sidus Dei Ludos, the event is huge, with hundreds of thousands turning out to a viewing of the 1974 Sidus Dei Ludos at Wagner Memorial Arena, and government officials in the past have viewed it in the city.

Leisure

Mechanicsburg is not one of the best places in the USQ for entertainment compared to other cities, such as Poleton or Rodriguezville. However, it still does offer a number of good cinemas, including the famous North Jaron Theater, as well as sporting hundreds of parks around the city, run by the City Council. The most notable of these is the Upper Minenton Cultural Park, an extremely large park in Upper Minenton which is famous for its rock sculptures, statues, and good walking paths with trees nearly everywhere. In the downtown area, Kendall Jameson Park is located in the center of all the buildings, with lots of trees but mostly wide open grass space and a few ponds.

In Topposite Square there are large amounts of shops, the most famous and visited of which are around New Dawn Circle. These shops are one of the main tourist spots in the city. In Lower Downtown Mechanicsburg there are numerous clubs, along with a few casinos, however nothing like places such as Rodriguezville or Poleton.

Food and Drink

Architecture

Mechanicsburg's styles of architecture are mixed, with the Alliaburban style prevalent in Topposite Square and Upper Minenton. This shows with the tall buildings with triangular roofs, a good example being the Mechanicsburg Customs Office. However in the Orivoam and Downtown areas, the Quentinian (Architecture Style) shows, with the tall glass lit up buildings, seen in the Mechanicsburg Business Tower.

Music, Art, Literature, and Media

Fine arts in the city are limited, however the city does have a thriving literature culture as well as probably the most media in the nation. As far as music goes, the city has some production, with L&B Studios being headquartered there. The Sandystone Musical Theater in the Orivoam District is the largest and one of the only music production centers in the city, with musicals and other performances such as singing, orchestra, large church services, and opera performances being held there.

Art creation and education is minimal in the city, however Mechanicsburg does have numerous places that display and show art created elsewhere. The most notable of these is by far the MDT Park Museum of the Arts, with hundreds of pieces on display, as well as showings and auctions held regularly for different pieces. Others include the Orivoam Legacy Museum, which displays art but is also the center of an art sharing community called the International Art Circulation Association, and the KBU Student and Citizen Art Facility in Pensborough Hills.

Mechanicsburg has been called the "Beacon of Literature," by many, with thousands of stores and libraries in the city, along with numerous works and companies being located there. The Riley Hattsleer Book Store in Topposite Square is the third largest book store in The United States of Quentin, its underground area being an especially interesting tourist area, with numerous books underground. Another bookstore of note is the Quentinian Capital Book Store in Downtown Mechanicsburg, with hundreds of books, notable for being located in the center of Kendall Jameson Park. Famous writers who have produced and lived in Mechanicsburg include Tyrell Peterson, famed 19th century mystery writer, Deven Ratterspark, the television economist who wrote MechEcs: The 1954 Mechanicsburg Situation, and Evangeline Christiansdaughter. Literature companies and producers headquartered in Mechanicsburg include Regal Rebellion Company and Upper Belt Publishers.

Mechanicsburg, as the capital of the USQ and the center of most political activity, has the most media coverage as well as media companies headquartered there in the country. With over 600 newspapers and magazines headquartered and produced there, which are spread around the country. Some of the notable ones include the Quentinian Gazette, the most read newspaper in the USQ, circulated in most cities but produced and headquartered in Mechanicsburg, the Mechanicsburg Gazette, the Orivoam Weekly News, the National Political Observer, the Founders Belt Consumer Magazine, the Mechanicsburg Monthly and the Logan Shore Times. Television coverage of the city is huge, with the Quentinian Broadcasting Corporation and the Founders Sports Network both being headquartered in Mechanicsburg, with local stations such as QBC-GA1 running daily news and other local programs, as well as DTN-F1 from the Diamond Television Network, and VMN-USQ1 from the Venturian Media Network.

Government and Politics

The city of Mechanicsburg is governed by the Mechanicsburg City Council, whose members, as well as the mayor, are elected directly by the permanent residents of the city. They decide numerous smaller matters for the city that the state government does not, including city water distribution, sporting events and stadiums, public parks and monuments in the city, etc. The Mayor of Mechanicsburg acts like a President and executive in the city's government, approving or rejecting bills the council passes as well as making sure they are enforced. Finally, the city has the Mechanicsburg City Decider, who is stationed in the city as the head of the local courts there, and settles local disputes and crimes, not state or federal ones.

The city is greatly involved in politics, and is actually home to the Mild RePublican Party Center, where The Mild RePublican Party holds votes on candidates and sets policy. The city has numerous voting locations for state, federal, and local elections. Historically the Mild RePublican party has made up a large portion of the vote for these elections, however The Fundamentalist Party has recently been closing the gap with their influence in the city, represented in the current Mechanicsburg City Treasurer, Valenchune Dario.

Districts

The city is arranged into several districts, both, according to former Mayor Lauren Thompson, to, "heighten organization, communication, and the ability to examine different areas of the city for anything that need to be fixed." The districts were last rearranged in 1891, when the downtown and uptown districts were classified. The current districts are Downtown Mechanicsburg, Lower Downtown Mechanicsburg, Uptown Mechanicsburg, the Orivoam District, Orivoam Coast, the Quad District, Upper Minenton, the Airmech Strip, Pensborough Hills and Topposite Square.

Demographics

Religion

As with most of the USQ, the main religion of Mechanicsburg is Christianity, at 74%. Trinitism follows that at 21%, along with Skethianity at 4%, and Reformed Hatvism at 1%. There are numerous Churches, Sothinaks, and Synagogues in the city, the oldest being The Threjus Synagogue, with the most famous being The Quad Crosses Church, inside The Quad Crosses. As for the distribution of different religions, the downtown area is one of the more diverse, with 3 religions besides Christianity above 10% of the population. The least diverse is from Pensborough Hills to the Orivoam District, where there is a combined near 94% Christian following, as well as the least religious area being either Uptown Mechanicsburg or areas closer to the river, such as Topposite Square.

Education

Mechanicsburg is one of the most educated major cities in the world, with tens of thousands of public and private education centers, and approximately 3.9 million students at all levels. Public education and schools are handled by the Quentinian Department of Education, with separate bureaus focusing specifically on different levels of education.

Primary and Secondary Schooling

In the city, there are nearly 2,200 public elementary, middle, and high schools, with each city district (Ex. Downtown Mechanicsburg) having its own school district. Some of the more notable elementary schools in the city include Mechanicsburg Elementary School, the oldest elementary school in the city, built in 1873, Winding Strip Elementary School, the most awarded and recognized in the city, and Center Station Elementary School, the elementary school with the largest amount of students, at 850. Some of the more notable middle schools include Hill Interim Middle School, which has been recognized by many as the most state of the art school in the state, and Raisinmen Middle School, the largest middle school in the city by size.

Some of the more notable high schools include Secowntown High School, a high school devoted entirely to health education, and Mechanicsburg High School, the largest for students in the city, with about 5,500 students. There are also a number of private primary and secondary schools in the city, nearly 110, which are privately funded and paid for by different organizations.

Tertiary Education

Mechanicsburg is also home to numerous colleges, universities, and other higher level institutions. As it usually is in The United States of Quentin, nearly all of these institutions are privately funded and operated, however there is one, the Federal University of Mechanicsburg, that is run by the federal government. The others that are privately run are widely regarded as the best in the state, and typically do well when compared against the nation's other universities, although not as well as others in cities such as Lindin or Kumar City. Universities and colleges are scattered throughout the city, like most Quentinian tertiary education.

The North MDT Uptown College Campus in Lower Downtown Mechanicsburg

Some of the notable Quentinian Colleges in the city include M&M Heights College, Lewison College, North MDT Uptown College, the College of Orivoam, Telembria Second College, Malountain College, and Pensil College, among others. These all have only one location somewhere in the city. Specifically M&M Heights College is recognized as one of the best in the country, as far as colleges go, providing thousands of majors and degrees. It currently has a total of about 9,000 students enrolled, and the controlling board of the school owns numerous other colleges in the USQ, enabling them to work together and transfer students.

In Mechanicsburg there isn't a large variety of Quentinian Universities to go to, mainly because much of this is monopolized by Mechanicsburg University, also known as MechU. MechU has numerous campuses just in the city, as well as hundreds more both in the USQ and abroad. The university currently enrolls close to 29,000 students in the city alone, along with close to 2 million students in all its combined campuses. Two other notable universities are Grassland State University and Kindy Bost-Jameson University, both of which are headquartered in Mechanicsburg. The former University has locations all around The Grassland Area, and the University enrolls nearly 12,000 students in the city, along with nearly 7 million throughout the state. KBU University also has high enrollment in the city, with Mechanicsburg being its headquarters and one of its 3 campuses. The city also is home to numerous branches of other universities, including Wagner and Firedawn University, Mechanicsburg, The University of Lindin, Mechanicsburg, Kumar Technological University, Mechanicsburg, and the University of Allia, Mechanicsburg, all of which have decently high enrollment.

Finally, Mechanicsburg is home to a few higher level academies, and although it doesn't have many fine arts academies it does have many technological and medical ones. These include the Mechanicsburg Medical Academy, which is privately run, the Grassland Institute of Technology, a state funded and run institute, the Upper MDT Surgical Institute, privately run, and the Orivoam Academy for the Sciences.

Economy

Mechanicsburg's economy is the largest in the Grassland Area, however is only estimated as the 7th largest economy in the nation. The main industry by far in the city is manufacturing, with Mechanicsburg producing nearly 65% of the GA's manufactured goods in 2018, including wood products, automobiles, steel, and food. Lumber comes into the city for manufacturing via trade, mainly with Snowland, with iron coming in from Minersville to be manufactured into steel, and food products such as wheat, fruits, and fish coming from much of the entire nation to be turned into market ready products. Naturally, this trade also generates thousands of jobs and millions of dollars in revenue. This trade comes in from both the Logan River as well as land routes such as the Upper Quentinian Belt Highway.

Numerous large companies and corporations are headquartered in Mechanicsburg, including Shah Enterprises, the nation's second largest technology and software engineering company. Shah Enterprises employs hundreds of workers in the city, with Mechanicsburg being the center for collection and development of the corporation's data and software programmed elsewhere. Abhpal's Food is the largest food manufacturer in the world, which also has hundreds of factories in the city, and the Blumenthal Corporation specializes in products for public services such as police, firefighting, and hospitals. Topposite Square generates some of the most tourism revenue in the city, resulting from the numerous shops, locations, and merchandising locations in the square, besides numerous other monuments such as the USQ government buildings.

Media continues to rise in its benefits to the economy of the city. Television stations, such as the Diamond Television Network and the Founders Sports Network generate some of this, both of them being headquartered in the city and providing thousands of jobs. Mechanicsburg also has the most newspapers for a city in the USQ by far, with nearly 670 total newspapers and magazines. The most read newspaper in the USQ, the Quentinian Gazette is printed and operated out of Mechanicsburg, providing thousands of jobs just by itself. Other notable newspapers include the Mechanicsburg Gazette, the Orivoam Weekly News, the Founders Belt Consumer Magazine, and the National Political Observer,

Industry is scattered throughout the city, however is mainly located in Uptown Mechanicsburg as well as the Airmech Strip. The main economic revenue of the city, services such as stores, restaurants, etc is located densely in the downtown area, however the Orivoam District also contains much of this. Finally, sports and other events such as the Sidus Dei Ludos have helped to boost the economy in the past, giving incentive for businesses to upgrade and a high boost in tourist revenue.

Cost of Living

Mechanicsburg's cost of living is high compared to other cities in the USQ, mainly because of the high importance of the city, the vicinity to the waterfront of the Logan River, and the large size of the city's apartments compared to others. The downtown area is one of the most expensive, because of the mentioned large size of apartments there, with Upper Minenton being the second most expensive, despite the distance from the downtown area. Suburban costs in the city are low, however in Pensborough Hills it becomes more expensive once you get nearer to the river.

Public Services

Police and Crime

Law enforcement in the city is handled by the Capital Area Police Department, the largest local police force in the nation. The CAPD is overseen by the Mechanicsburg City Council, and funding comes from local taxes as well as national ones because of Mechanicsburg's importance as the nation's capital. The CAPD was founded in 1836, and currently employs nearly 43,800 officers, as well as an additional 2,000 administrators and operatives. The CAPD's two main headquarters are located in Downtown Mechanicsburg and the Orivoam District, as well as hundreds of other smaller stations scattered around the city.

Crime in the city is currently one of the lower in the country, although consistently higher than other parts of the state. The peak for crime in the city was in the late 1990's and early 2000's, but since then rates for murders, robberies, and property damage have lowered significantly. This peak is seen as a result of lowered funding for the force from the 60's-80's, but around 2010 President of the USQ Kyle Lovestington was able to raise the percentage of taxes that went to the department, boosting the number of stations and officers.

Firefighting

The Capital Area Fire Department is the department that handles fire prevention in the city and the surrounding area. The department isn't one of the larger ones in the country, as it employs only 3,000 firefighters. It was founded in 1842, and is overseen by the council, as well as paid for by local taxes. The CAFD has their headquarters in Uptown Mechanicsburg, as well as several other minor stations located around the city.

Healthcare

Mechanicsburg has a large array of both public, government healthcare facilities and private, corporation-run hospitals and clinics. The public clinics and hospitals in the city are run by the GA Department of Health, with 9 hospitals scattered around the city, as well as nearly 40 clinics, offices, and old age care homes. These hospitals serve nearly 4 million patients each year, with costs being low for citizens of the city, mainly because expenses are largely paid by taxes. The most notable and largest of these is the Mechanicsburg Metropolitan Hospital, in the downtown area. Private clinics are usually more expensive for citizens, however are the ideal choice for insured patients, with nearly 500 of these in the city, with 3 privately run hospitals.

Public Libraries and Museums

Mechanicsburg has a large array of public libraries, belonging to the GA Public Library System. These libraries, under the Grassland Area State Constitution, are funded by the citizens of the GA through taxes, and Mechanicsburg has nearly 85 libraries, which borrow books from other libraries in the state. The libraries are open to anyone, and staff is hired by the public library system's GAPLS Bureau of Staff.

Mechanicsburg also has a few museums, mainly historically centered. The most popular is by far the Quentinian Museum of Political History, followed by the Mechanicsburg Museum of Historical Figures, along with the Mechanicsburg Geographical Museum, the Fine Arts Museum of Mechanicsburg, and the Mechanicsburg Gallery of Architecture and Masonry.

Transportation

Mechanicsburg's transportation system is large, notably its numerous airports, which are not only ranked among the best and most efficient in the world, but also recognized as some of the most beautiful and enjoyable to be at. Other transportation in the city is mildly efficient but well organized. It is estimated that currently 36% of city residents use some sort of public transportation regularly, along with most tourists, but most residents prefer to use the roads and their cars. Nearly all transportation, in contrast to other cities, runs 24/7, except for some repair and maintenance days. Below are different modes of transportation in the city, as well as descriptions of them.

Buses and Taxis

Like many major cities in The United States of Quentin, Mechanicsburg has a large array of buses and taxis. Most taxis are privately run, however all have to register with the CAPITAL, the main Mechanicsburg transportation bureau operating under the GA Department of Transportation, with buses being run and funded by CAPITAL too. There are nearly 4,000 private taxis in the city, one of the lower numbers in the USQ, along with nearly 11,000 buses. Millions use the bus system, and taxis generate revenue and wealth for the city, however cars are still the preferred mode of transport.

Mechanicsburg Public Subway System

The Mechanicsburg Public Subway System, referred to commonly as "the Snake" because of its curved paths, is the mass transit system for Mechanicsburg, also run by CAPITAL. The system has dozens of underground lines, connected to nearly 465 stations and 41 lines, each with at least 2 trains running on each at a time. Millions use the system every day, and although it has developed a stereotype among tourists and non-residents as dirty and unsafe, (See MEPSS Safety Concerns and Criticisms) it is very efficient, and reaches far throughout the city. The MEPSS Green Line is the only one on the subway to go outside the city, with the green line connecting the city's citizens to stations in Port Clinton, Fort McCarthy, Minersville, and Matthiasport.

Air Travel and Airports

The Crossover Hall International Airport.

Air travel in Mechanicsburg is widely regarded as the largest, most successful air travel system in the world. There are 5 main airports in the city, 3 of which are within a block of each other. The busiest and largest is the Mechanicsburg Venturian Union Airport, the second busiest is the Capital Area International Airport, and the third busiest is the Crossover Hall International Airport. Capital Area and Mechanicsburg VU are in the small block of airports close to each other, along with the Quentinian Capital Airport. These 3 airports together are known collectively as the Mechanicsburg Air Complex. The last and least busiest airport in the city is the Pensborough Airport, located in the outskirts of the Pensborough District.

As mentioned earlier, the air travel system in Mechanicsburg is not only large, it is extremely efficient and cost effective. The layouts of each airport were designed specifically for efficiency, with different lanes for different types of travel and sections both in parking and the concourse for different flights and places. These airports also are widely recognized as extremely relaxing and spacious, with high quality architecture, commons spaces between areas, and different shops, services like transportation around the airport for the disabled or elderly, even things like small playgrounds and one movie theater in the Venturian Union airport to use as you wait for flights.

Roads and Highways

Mechanicsburg's roads are laid out in the traditional Square and Intersection Quentinian road design style, with roads going horizontally and vertical roads intersecting them from above and continuing below. Traffic, especially in the area between the uptown and downtown areas, is less than ideal, however the traffic is certainly not horrible, especially for the amount of cars on the road, which is the largest percentage of a city's population for any city over 1 million people. Roads in the city are handled and taken care of by CAPITAL as well.

In addition to the roads inside the city, Mechanicsburg is one of the main points on the Trans-Logan Beltway, which runs from Minersville to Port Clinton, as well as being an exit on the Grassland State Turnpike and Grassland Area Route 24. These highways are managed by the Quentinian Department of Transportation or Grassland Area Department of Transportation, and both have exits from the city to the highway and vice versa, allowing both cars and commercial vehicles to leave the city as well as arrive.

Commercial Rail

Mechanicsburg has a few above-ground railroad lines, many of them very old, used mainly for commercial and industrial business. The L&B Railroad goes from Lindin to Baltimore, passing through Mechanicsburg on the way, and has 3 stations throughout the city for them to stop and unload. The L&B Railroad Station, UTN Mechanicsburg and the L&B Railroad Station, LDT Mechanicsburg usually unloads and picks up commercial goods, such as large packages and products from businesses, and the L&B Railroad Station, DTN Mechanicsburg usually delivers and picks up raw goods and materials to the city, such as coal, steel, lumber, etc.

The commercial rail lines are handled by the Quentinian Department of Transportation. If a business or individual wants to ship something via train, the Mechanicsburg Office of Commercial Rail takes deliveries, along with payment, and takes the delivery to one of the stations to be delivered somewhere else.
