The University of Lindin is a private, non-profit, multi-campus university located mainly in Lindin, Snowland, in the United States of Quentin. The university is one of the oldest in the nation, and was founded in 1873, by founder and politician Knile Hufflepuff. The university has 4 locations besides the main campus in Lindin, which are the University of Lindin, Hufflepuff, the University of Lindin, Greenscoast, the University of Lindin, Mechanicsburg, and the University of Lindin, Bakersfieldville. The colleges have the same policies, admissions and prices, and curriculum as the main campus, except they are located in different areas, and are much smaller. This allows for more personalized teaching as well as accessibility to more students.

Today the University is considered by many as one of the most prestigious in the country in terms of academics, and have consistently ranked high in graduation rates and testing scores, currently ranked third in the nation in academics, and first in the state every year since 1944, and many years before that. In athletics the university is also extremely competitive, belonging to the Scattered 7 Conference, an extremely prestigious athletics conference in the Quentinian University Association of College Athletes. Internationally, the university is ranked high, currently ranked 32nd in the world by the VU Academics Administration.

History

Founding

The University was founded in 1873 by Knile Hufflepuff, a founder of The United States of Quentin, and Bureaucrat of the USQ. In his years as a Bureaucrat in the House of Bureaucrats, he was a big proponent of education, and helped pass numerous bills to spread and improve education in the new country at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. After retiring from the House in 1858, Knile wanted to improve the higher education levels on the country, as there were no universities in the nation at the time. So, with help from his daughter, Hannah Hufflepuff, he created the university, and hired some of the best teachers in the area, as well as foreign professors from prestigious universities in The Protectorates of Allia.

Despite the location, which allowed the University to be accessible to many students, in the first two years the University was not well attended, and financial problems plagued the President of the University of Lindin, Hannah Hufflepuff, and her board. In 1875 Knile died, and left the majority of his fortune to the University, which equates to almost $350 million in today's money. After that, the University was extremely popular, being able to offer grants and scholarships, as well as hire high class professors and expand the school.

Though other colleges and universities were founded in the nation before the UOL, the university's success sparked a hasty founding of universities in the country, and by the turn of the century, hundreds of other universities and colleges existed in the USQ.

Late 1800's

During the late 1800's, the country was beginning to become a world power, and this included the expansion of industry, territory, and invention. Probably the most famous of the university's students during this time was business magnate and industrialist B.T. DuBuis, who did much to extend the power of the country and make it a modern nation. The university also began its research programs in 1889, after a new President, Jefferson Fayet, took control of the university. This included B.T. DuBuis, as well as other inventors of the age, such as Edmon Princep, the creator of The Princep Corporation.

During this time, the university expanded into 2 of its 4 locations it has today. In the 1890's the university began numerous institutions that continue today, including the University of Lindin Library, the largest in the state, as well as starting the UOL Laje, the athletic program of the University, starting at first with running competitions and Quentinian Quadrathameet. This early creation allowed for the expansion into Roofball and Vehementiaball in the 1900's.

The 1900's-2000's

During the two Venturian wars, the University shut down partially for both, operating as a hospital as well as a training center for recruits, being in the pivotal border city of Lindin. After the two wars, the University heightened their athletics department, which included construction of Hufflepuff Field and UOL Arena for different athletic activities. During The United States of Quentin Age of Culture from the 50's to late 80's, the University had a large role in developing many influential writers of the time, mainly because of its nationally recognized library and writing programs, stemming from Hannah Hufflepuff herself. These famed writers, among others, include Kendall Worcester and Gretchen Rodgers.

In modern day the University continues to be extremely influential, with the library there being 5th on the list of largest libraries in the nation, and 1st on largest university libraries in the world. The early 2000's were plagued with issues for the University, however, which included students choosing to go the rival school, Snowland University, instead, as well as the University of Lindin Stand Scandal in 2004. Recovery efforts were swift and efficient, and actions taken by the board of the school resulted in a heightened number of students as well as quality of education. In 2011 the University opened their most recent location, the University of Lindin, Greenscoast, in northern Snowland.

Locations and Campuses

The University of Lindin, being so large and complex, has hundreds of locations around the USQ.

The University also has 5 campuses, which are the major locations, scattered across the USQ, which include the main campus as well as the University of Lindin, Hufflepuff, the University of Lindin, Greenscoast, the University of Lindin, Mechanicsburg, and the University of Lindin, Bakersfieldville. Descriptions of their campuses are below, along with locations and opinions.

Main Campus

The Hufflepuff Wing of the UOL Library

The main campus of the University, located in Lindin, is known around the country for not being the most beautiful. A quote from comedian Tyson Boswell sums up the campus well, "Man, the campus of the UOL, you know that University there down in Lindin? Yeah, it's like that one girl at the high school dance who you see, and you're like, 'Dang, that girl be ugly,' and no one likes her, right? Yeah but then you see that same girl like a few years later when you out, and she's still ugly, right, don't get me wrong, but you're like dang, because she's all rich and the kind of person that turns someone down at an interview because they shirt's not tucked in."

The campus is renowned in many ways, despite its lack of beauty. One of those is the University of Lindin Library, the largest for a University in the world. The campus also includes the athletic arena and stadium for the teams, as well as numerous educational buildings, the largest of which being the H.J. Dean Literature Center.
