B.T. Carlton DuBuis was born in 1859, to parents George DuBuis and Jeannette DuBuis in West Snowy, Snowland, in The United States of Quentin. His family was well off, however were not extremely rich or prominent in society. Growing up in West Snowy, one of the smaller cities in the country at that time, B.T. showed a knack for everything education, excelling particularly in science, business, and philosophy classes.

2 weeks before his 17th birthday, DuBuis' parents went on a trip to the Republic of Megatridimensional Order. They never came back, having been murdered in the country, and young DuBuis was left with his family's money and estate. DuBuis decided to go to The University of Lindin, which offered him a full academic scholarship. After his four years there, DuBuis came back home to West Snowy filled with new knowledge and understanding, especially in business. He took this knowledge, along with the money of his parents, and bought out several lumber companies in northwestern Snowland. This was the right time to buy, as industrialism and expansionism were taking hold of the nation in the 1870's. His companies became profitable quickly, and soon DuBuis started a corporation to manage them, called DuBuis Wood Work Company.

In the early 1880's DuBuis became the wealthiest man in the nation from his wood production, and began to invest in several steel mines out west. These mines were producing much, and steel quickly was becoming a valuable resource for building railroads, buildings, and ships. Instead of selling this steel to others, like he did his lumber, DuBuis started the Western Industrial Productions Corporation, as well as numerous factories to turn out materials for railroads. This quickly expanded into weapons, including new firearms for The United States of Quentin Military.

In 1885 DuBuis funded The DuBuis Peace Conference, which was a meeting of nations around the world to address different issues facing the world at that time.
