Assassination of Demarcus Palpatine

Demarcus Palpatine, the 28th and longest-serving Chancellor of the Iridium Coast, was assassinated on Sunday, March 19th, 1942, in Quentinsburg, Iridium Coast. The assassination was carried out by Anakah Darth, who belonged to an Iridite nationalist group opposing the pro-Asper and bureaucratic policies of the modernist Palpatine. The objective of the assassination was to kill Palpatine, so that these policies would end, and a new pro-Iridite traditionalist Chancellor would be elected. Darth achieved the assassination by kidnapping the Chancellor, then drowning him in a well in Iridium City that same day. Darth died of a heart attack once authorities discovered him with the body of Palpatine in Iridium City. Though the assassination was successful, it did not have the intended political effect, as the brutality and shock of the assassination caused the people to elect Quentin Clecle, a politician from Their Great Frankness, and one of the most bureaucratic and pro-Asper modernists in the country. Soon, the entire group of Iridite nationalists was captured by the Iridium Grand Army, led by Klo Rain, dealing a massive blow to the traditionalist movement in the Iridium Coast.
