2020-2021 Quentinian Presidential Debates
The 2020-2021 Quentinian Presidential Debates were a series of political debates held by candidates for the Presidency of the United States of Quentin. The election related to these debates was held as the 2022 presidential election.
The debates began with primary debates, inter-party debates meant to assist voters in choosing the candidate for each political party. Traditionally, there are two debates held by both the Mild RePublican Party and the Fundamentalist Party in 2020, and the first two were held by the Mild RePublicans and Fundamentalists respectively on October 24th and October 25th. The Environmentalist Party held its first primary debate on November 3rd, with the Freelance Party and other minor parties holding their primary debates in mid-November. After the November debates, the Mild RePublicans and Fundamentalists held their second debates on December 13th and December 6th respectively, with the Environmentalists having their second debates on January 5th. These debates lead up to the respective party conventions, including the 2021 Mild RePublican Party Convention, the 2021 Fundamentalist Party Convention, and the 2021 Environmentalist Party Convention, where the parties will choose their candidates.

Mild RePublican Debates
The format for all Mild RePublican primary debates is the Quentinian Debate Format, which features a number of topics organized into a number of sections by the moderator. Each of these sections allow for statements by each of the candidates, which last the same for each candidate, and then an open forum where the candidates each have the same amount of time to contribute, and when they want to add to the open discussion, they press a time clock, beginning their time and stopping the time of whoever else was talking. This goes on until the conversation is resolved, and then the moderator moves on to the next section.
October 24th
The first Mild RePublican Party debate was held on October 24th, 2020, and featured 9 candidates from around the country. Unlike in the second debate, all candidates who chose to run for President under the Mild RePublican Party, registered with the party's debate commission, and had support from at least one convention member were able to participate in the debate. The debate was held at Chris Lee Hall in Kindikil, DA from 8:45 to 10:15 PM, and was covered by DTN and QBC on television, and TBS on radio and television. The moderators for the debate were Chrissy Teagan, Jonathan McMillan, and Gus Landry from the Quentinian Gazette. The event's ultimate ratings were the highest since 2008, as incumbent Kyle Lovestington decided not to run for the first time since then.

After the October 24th debate, polls were again taken by the Mild RePublican Polling Commission, and below are the results after the debate.

The top three performers in the debates as compiled by the Quentinian Gazette were Representative Riley Frye, Governor Rajesh Muduganti, and GTNEC Steve Shamji, while the consensus worst performer according to many platforms was Governor William Huelsenbekk, who dropped 4% in the polls after the debate. Some platforms praised the amount of diversity at the debate, as states such as Snowland, Long Beach Island, and the Multi-Logan State were represented, a change from the usual Desert Area and Grassland Area dominated Mild RePublican debates.
December 13th
Fundamentalist Debates
The format for all Mild RePublican primary debates is the Quentinian Debate Format, which features a number of topics organized into a number of sections by the moderator. October 25th
The first Fundamentalist Party debate was held on October 25th, 2020, one day after the Mild RePublican debate, and featured 10 candidates from around the country. Unlike in the second debate, all candidates who chose to run for President under the Fundamentalist Party, registered with the party's debate commission, and had support from at least three convention members were able to participate in the debate. The debate was held at Port Authority Channel Hall in Boston, MA from 8:45 to 9:30 PM, and it was covered by DTN and QBC on television, and TBS on radio and television. The moderators for the debate were Charles Barling, Adam Cerstoff, and Christina Fosley, with Fosley and Barling being from QBC, and Cerstoff being from the Berlinsavis Gazette.

After the October 24th debate, polls were again taken by the Mild RePublican Polling Commission, and below are the results after the debate.

The top performer was by far Governor Alexa Holcomb, who received acclaim from a number of sources for her passionate performance and her layout of progressive policies. The top three in the debate as compiled by the National Political Observer were Holcomb, State Representative Dean Carnum, and Attorney Lisa Miller. Many commentators noted that the Fundamentalist debate resulted in a few major frontrunners, including Holcomb, Carnum, Miller, and Tim Follingworth emerging from a group which was very well contested before the debate. This was the opposite of the Mild RePublican debate, which seemed to be more inconclusive. As a result of these results, the worst performing politicians were hard to list, however Paul Stroll emerged from the group as the worst performing, dropping 4.6% in the polls.
On November 3rd, Randall Thompson dropped out of the debate, in what was seen as a direct result of the first debate and his poor performance in it. Thompson notably clashed with fellow Cupboard member Paul Stroll during the debate, which resulted in a drop in the popularity of both even though they have each alleged it was simply good natured debate. Thompson also announced that day that he would be announcing himself as candidate for GTNEC in the 2022 election, the first to do so in any party.
December 6th
Environmentalist Debates
November 3rd
The first Environmentalist Party debate was held on November 3rd, 2020, and featured five candidates from across the country. Unlike in the second debate, all candidates who chose to run for President as an Environmentalist, registered with the party's debate commission, and had support from at least one convention member were able to participate in the debate. The debate was held at the Eisner Building in Livjessville, KA from 8:00 to 9:30 PM, and it was covered by DTN and QBC on television, and TBS on radio and television. The moderators for the debate were Jan Leevers and Chrae Spraunt, both from The Tough Opinion newspaper company.

After the first debate, the frontrunners according to many analysts were Clint Toll and Gretchen DeArmant, with Dean Thomas also maintaining the third place spot after the first debate. DeArmant was noted particularly for her energy on stage, and her noted radical policies and speaking passion, which was viewed favorably by Environmentalists around the country. While many analysts believe that Secretary Daniel Stevenson did well in the debate, his popularity declined, and along with Xavier Ravenson he dropped out of the race in late December. This left only the three frontrunners for the second and final debate.
January 5th
The second Environmentalist Party debate was held on January 5th, 2021, and featured three candidates from around the country. Unlike in the first debate, only the five highest polling candidates were eligible to participate, however Daniel Stevenson and Xavier Ravenson both dropped out of the race in December, leaving only three remaining. The debate was held at Forest Grove Center in Greenscoast, Snowland from 8:00 to 10:00 PM, and it was covered by DTN and QBC on television, and TBS on radio and television. The moderator for the debate was Kacey Wallinsworth, from the Beach Haven Times.

Results and Primary

The results of the second debate saw a general decline in the popularity of Clint Toll, however he was still the second highest polling candidate at the end of the debate. Gretchen DeArmant continued to increase her popularity, performing well at the debate and retaining the highest spot in terms of polling. Dean Thomas, however, had perhaps the greatest gain from the second debate, gaining 3.9% in the polls and becoming viewed as a viable compromise candidate for the party. DeArmant was viewed as the most radical of the three candidates, and as a result of this, in early February Dean Thomas withdrew from the race, throwing his support behind Toll for the presidency.
On March 15th, the 2021 Quentinian Environmentalist Presidential Primaries began, with registered Environmentalists across the country voting for their preferred candidate to win the endorsement of the Environmentalist Party, either Gretchen DeArmant or Clint Toll. On March 16th, results came in for the primary, concluding that Clint Toll had won the support of the party's members to run for President. In a traditional show of unity, DeArmant withdrew from the race on the 17th, even though the Party Convention had not yet officially voted on the winner, and threw her full support behind Toll for President.
