Port Logan is a manually independent city of Paladinia, currently home to the second-largest population for a Paladinian city. Port Logan, which was originally settled in 1886, is under the control of the Paladinian capital government, however due to the Paladinian Democratic Revolution and subsequent Boiling Summer revolts of 2021, the city is largely independent from the rest of the nation in matters of legislation, economics, and civil liberties. Designated manually independent by the Sommer-Grant Package, the city has open borders, trade, and travel with the rest of the nation, however under the agreement most matters within Port Logan's borders (which were also expanded by the package) fall within the jurisdiction of the Port Logan Senate and the Executive Negotiator of Port Logan. The city also maintains its own military force, the Port Logan Metropolitan Guard, and has the option at any time, by a 3/4 vote, to become fully independent. However the Paladinian capital government in Building States still exercises power over foreign political policies, military matters, and utilities in the city. Additionally, Building States can assume authority over the Metropolitan Guard with a 3/4 vote in the People's Legislature. Regarding these federal decisions, Port Logan also has its own representation in federal legislature.

Port Logan was first established by Paladinian settlers in 1886, one year after the signing of the Treaty of Building States, which ended the Quentin-Logan Border War with the United States of Quentin. Bustling from the beginning due to its geographically advantageous position on the Shrinkling Peninsula near the Sea of Stratigeo, the city quickly expanded even through the Paladinian Uprisings of 1890, as fighting was mostly concentrated further west. During the Great Venturian Wars the city was on the forefront of the fighting, sharing a border near the USQ and Megatridimensional Order. After being ravaged by war, mainly naval, across the two wars, the city was crippled by the 1950's, like much of the rest of the nation. However, by the 1960's Port Logan had become extremely viable once again, with leadership in Building States focusing on eastern trade with the USQ. The Trans-Stratigeo Agreement on Regulations (TSAR) in the 1970's continued this growth, with Port Logan modernizing and prospering to a greater extent than the rest of the nation. The digital industry reached the city by the 1990's, and while the rest of the country began to fall stagnant, Port Logan continued to be one of the world economic leaders.

Due to many economic and cultural factors resulting from high trade and immigration, Port Logan had and continues to have a far different demographic outlook than the rest of Paladinia, and by the 2000's the Paladinian Reform System, a pro-democracy group, were the de facto majority in the city, though it was not official due to the dictatorial nature of the Warren-Greenawalt government. When the -Asperian Roofball War broke out in 2019, the city was decimated, and while rebuilding efforts were swift, the city's anti-capital sentiment continued to rise. After years of buildup, the pro-democracy Paladinian revolution finally broke out in 2021, and Port Logan seized their chance not long thereafter to become more independent.

Today, the city continues to be a world economic leader, and analysts project that the city's population will also grow to nearly 13 million by 2030, due to the demand for laborers in the city and its recent independent designation. This designation has already allowed the city to reach prewar economic pace once again, and establish numerous trade agreements with other nations.
