The Joint Subordinate Military Council (JSMC) is a committee of the bicameral United States of Quentin Congress, composed of members from both the House of Representatives and the House of Bureaucrats. The Council is a permanent joint committee, and includes members of Congress who are given information by the Quentinian Department of Intelligence and the Quentinian Defense Committee, including the Supreme Commander, on the actions of the military. Congress members are also given advice by these armed forces officers on military matters. Though the JSMC has no say on the actions of the military, and has no power to command the military, the JSMC is important in keeping the legislative branch informed of military actions, as well as in encouraging greater communication between Congress and the executive branch. Though the JSMC usually only informs Congress during wartime and crises, the Council is important in peacetime as well.
