Popperman (Emory Rice) is a fictional superhero appearing in numerous QUACK! Comics series, and other media including television and cinema. The character was originally created in 1958 by Joseph Leeson and Bryce Donaldson, the creators of Good Hope. For nearly a decade, Popperman was the junior counterpart, or sidekick, of Good Hope, before becoming an independent hero in the late 1960's. Though he is a member of the Knights of Life and a popular hero in his own right, he is still widely associated with Good Hope and appears in many editions alongside the more popular hero. His introduction boosted the sales of Good Hope comics, and he has served as a model for other sidekicks such as Hammershark or Alian Shamji.
